Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over the North Bay of Bengal. As a result, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the country’s Met Office, has forecasted heavy rains across the country. Rainfall activity may continue for the next 5 days. This was informed in a weather bulletin for the next 48 hours from Monday (July 1) morning.

The forecast states that the low-pressure area over West Bengal and adjoining areas merged with the monsoon axis. The axis of monsoon extends through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. As a result, most places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind. Besides, moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country on this day. On Tuesday (July 2), light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country on this day.
